Conducted by Mark Heron, The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain will be performing on Saturday 4th April 2015 at Alington Hall, Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, SY3 7BA. The concert is due to start at 7:30pm and features some of the UK’s finest young woodwind, brass and percussion players: A definite must see!
NYWO’s Orchestral Manager, William Minty says “I am delighted to finally bring the orchestra to my home county of Shropshire, particularly given that for the last ten years, Shropshire has had at least one player each and every year in NYWO and this number has often risen to as many as four in any given year. This is an incredible link between Shropshire and NYWO and it is right that NYWO should finally be visiting Shropshire to showcase some of that talent.”
The concert will feature euphonium soloist, David Thornton who will join the orchestra to perform Kit Turnbull’s Blue Rider. The young musicians will also perform works from living British composers in addition to Ticheli’s Symphony No.2 and Grainger’s Marching Song of Democracy.
Tickets (£12, £8 concessions) can be purchased either from NYWO’s website – www.nywogb.com – or in person, phone or email from Windband Ltd (9 Greyfriars Road, Shrewsbury; (01743) 367482; info@windband.co.uk) and also at the door.
