Victorian Springtime Wedding Celebrations at Blists Hill

Blists Hill Victorian WeddingBells will be ringing for the Ironworks’ foreman at Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge, as he marries his sweetheart over the weekend of Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May at a recreation of a Victorian wedding.

After their wedding in the Mission Church, the happy couple will lead their guests to The Green where celebrations will begin with speeches and a picnic; then everyone can join in the merrymaking with music, singing and Maypole dancing.

Arrive early to catch the traditional wedding preparations and listen to the exciting chatter throughout the shops, houses and Victorian streets as the townsfolk get ready for the day’s big event.

See the bride in The Terrace Cottage between 10am and 12noon as she prepares for her special day, watch the horse and cart being dressed at the Sawmill Yard and the cake being decorated in the Toll House, then join the groom and his family at the New Inn Pub. Go along to the Draper’s and catch a glimpse of the wedding dress as it’s collected between 1pm and 2pm and see the wedding guests, bride and groom make their way to the Mission Church for the 2.30pm ceremony. Afterwards follow the wedding procession to The Green and join in the celebrations.
